 Adventure's Edge was started in 1970 by two outdoor enthusiasts who were drawn to the area by its natural beauty and by the local college. They settled  because the town possessed the qualities of community -- sharing, giving, growing, being responsible and supportive -- that encouraged them to establish roots.

Today we carry on in the tradition of our founders, helping our customers get informed and geared up with everything they need to explore the local terrain. For over 40 years Adventure's Edge has been providing excellent service & knowledge on all outdoor adventure needs. Hike, Bike, Paddle or Climb, we've got what you're looking for!

 Kokatat began making paddle sports apparel and gear in Arcata, CA in 1971. and has kept production local  to control quality and continually develop the finest and driest paddling apparel in the world. Over 90% of their annual revenue comes from the sales of products handmade in our Arcata CA factory (now 196 employees strong!)

 SOTAR is a family run, custom whitewater inflatable boat manufacturer based in Merlin, Oregon in the USA. Every boat is built by hand and made one at a time. Glenn Lewman co-founder of SOTAR built this company on big dreams. Like a lot of small companies, he started in a garage in 1980 and SOTAR is still flourishing 40 years later.

SOTAR’s specialty is giving white water sports lovers a boat that is custom designed to personal specifications. Jeremiah Lewman, son of Glenn, stepped up as COO beginning in 2017. Jeremiah’s engineering knowledge of polymer science coupled with SOTAR’s exclusively developed Urethane/Rezcoat, heavy duty, UV and abrasion resistant fabric which allows for welded seams, enables innovation in design! 

Jeremiah is dedicated to state of the art improvements and quality to push SOTAR into the future.
