What made this team stand out for recognition as 2024 Team of the Year was their commitment to spreading the word about amateur raft racing. These kids want EVERYONE to be involved and hope that their small Northern California communities can someday host Nationals and Worlds! They delight in taking others on the water!

The Redwood Rafters Youth Team was interviewed on 3 Bi-Coastal Media stations and they did a smashing job discussing how raft racing works, safety on the water, what it takes to be a racer and promoted their zero waste fundraising event that reached out to the greater community, They planted the racing bug in others to increase awareness
The Redwood Rafters Youth Team was interviewed on 3 Bi-Coastal Media stations and they did a smashing job discussing how raft racing works, safety on the water, what it takes to be a racer and promoted their zero waste fundraising event that reached out to the greater community, They planted the racing bug in others to increase awareness and involvement beyond the immediate community. After these interviews and their subsequent bring a friend weekend the team tripled in size and nearly collapsed under the weight of their popularity, but luckily the greater Arcata/ Eureka community of volunteers stepped in to supply extra coaches and safety boaters to keep the growing team afloat! They have monthly volunteer meetings that keeps the sport healthy and competitors safe. They make new friends along the way too!
The Redwood Rafters wants to take this time to acknowledge the people and businesses that have gotten us to where we are today. The Redwood Rafters wants to take this time to acknowledge the people and businesses that have gotten us to where we are today. We understand that we raft on Rivers that are the traditional rivers of the Yurok, Karuk, Hoopa, Shasta and Klamath people. These indigenous people have lived, worked and played on these rivers, and along its banks since time immemorial. Today we pay our respect to these river elders both past and present and thank them for its use. May all have safe passage. Thank you also to our families and friends and volunteers who drive thousands of miles to get us to where we need to be, unload the cars as we sleep and love us win or lose. Special Thanks to our key sponsor Sotar Inflatables and also Six Rivers Rafting and a nod to the CA Poppies who shared with us their tips and tricks.
Support our USA Teams in their efforts around the globe.
